I've found conflicting information about this bus route, and the website is silent on the question. Does anyone know if this is a "hop-on hop-off" style bus route? Or is it merely a 50 minute ride to see the major cultural points of interest? The bus fare is twice that of a regular bus ride. Thanks!

It's true that there is information that bus 50 was a Hop-on Hop-off back in the day
But on the "Fares" page of the official website oasth.gr it is specified this:
Cultural route Bus Fare: €1.80 - The ticket is issued for one trip only.
I'm going to Thessaloniki soon, I'm not planning to take it, I have some time to travel around the city with the other bus lines but I'll see if I can get some info.

Thanks!! Yes, after looking at the Fares page, I see that for the same price (1.80 Euro), I can get four tickets valid for 120 minutes, if I can validate the fourth ticket within 120 minutes of the first. Time for some very efficient sight-seeing!

The difference with the 50 bus is that there is a guy, a sort of guide who makes comments and gives information about the places where the bus stops.
But as I don't like these buses with imposed routes and schedules, and since they don't go where I would like to go, I improvise and I make my itinerary with my own timing.
