I posted a thank you in the France forum as well, but I want to thank all of the helpful contributors on these forums. The information shared is so helpful and it really helped us on our recent France/Greece trip. I would also like to share a brief thought on Santorini since there seems to be a lot of negative, almost snarky, comments about the island throughout the Greece forum. The negativity seems to be about the crowds and cost. We take a lot of advice from this forum but I’m glad we were not swayed in this case. We spent six nights in Imerovigli on Santorini. It was costly but it was also one of the most beautiful places we’ve ever seen and we enjoyed the island immensely. Fira and Oia can get overrun with cruise ship crowds, but that should not define the Santorini experience. To each their own, but our six nights on Santorini was one of the best experiences we have had.
Agree that Santorini is wonderful. I worked a full summer on Santorini when I was young, and have returned several times. It's a bigger island than just the peak tourist villages, and it's completely unique and shockingly beautiful. Missing it is a mistake - you just need to find the backdoor, not moo along with the herd!
Have you been to any other Greek Island than Santorini?
It's hard to compare islands if you haven't been to any others.
I am so happy to hear that you enjoyed Santorini! We spent 3 nights in Firastefani a year ago, and we loved it. It is so unique and beautiful. And we rented a car for a day to see the rest of the island which was very enjoyable. The caldera and the white-washed buildings with blue domes are stunning, but there is more to Santorini than just the caldera.
We also visited Naxos, which we loved and is very different from Santorini, but I, too, am very happy we visited Santorini. I received advice not to visit Santorini because it's "touristy" but I was not swayed in this case, either.
Mykonos, Ios, Corfu, Paros, Antiparos, Naxos, Samos, Hydra, Patmos, Folegandros, Crete. Not as ports of call on a cruise or the like, but rather ferrying around with a backpack over 5 summer visits.
Not bad any of them! If I could only pick one to have visited, Crete. Two add Santorini. Three Folegandros. But all good!

Comparison is the thief of joy!
I just wanted to say thank you and to say that we loved our time on Santorini. Unless there’s some confusion with another post somewhere, I don’t understand the “comparison to other islands” comments. At any rate, I do sincerely appreciate the many positive and informative posters on these forums.
