Temple of Poseidon South of Athens

Anyone visited the the Temple of Poseidon, about a 2-hour drive south of Athens? Rick doesn't mention it in his Greece guide book, but it looks quite scenic from the online photos. We'll be arriving a day early for our 14-day RS Greece tour next week and was wondering if it's worth the price of a driver for a 5-6 hour out-and-back. Thoughts?

Why not take a look at Athens from the top of Lycabettus Hill instead?

The Temple of Poseidon at Cape Sounion is one of the most beautiful sites around Athens located in an exceptional natural environment. You don't need a driver, there are organized tours to take you there by bus

Or you can do like me, take a Ktel bus (12€ for the round trip) from Egiptou Square in Athens (Victoria metro station). The journey takes about 2 hours. Bring water and good shoes!

Sounion is lovely and gorgeous. It’s quite an easy drive if you rent a car from the airport and drop off at the airport then train in for your overnight in Athens. That likely far cheaper than a driver. If you aren’t comfortable driving yourself, I think it’s probably worth it to see it provided you maybe combine with a few other stops (Marathon for military history nerds, Lake Vouglienos, Athenian riviera beaches or similar). You can def do more than Sounion in five hours from the airport.
