Temple of Aphaia on Aegina

You can take the bus to stop at the Temple ... actually after 30 minutes at most, you're ready to move on, but the next bus is not for several hours, as I recall. However, there is a walk that's not too taxing. From the Temple's hill, if you look down you can see a village & beach by the sea... it's Ag. Marina. Start walking down the road, and at about 2nd switchback, on downhill side of road there is (or was a few years ago), a handpainted sign on a tree (in English!) 'Short cut" ... I took the chance, scrambled down the dirt path, and it turned into a good path and before long, presto! you're on the outskirts of the town! Stroll down the beach road, and voila! the beach! with a number of tavernas. If you've got your swimwear along (or wearing under your daywear -- time for a plunge! (You can buy a beverage at a taverna, and quickly change in their restroom. It's a narrow beach, but oh my, water feels good. After a refreshing dip, you'll feel like lunch. A nice way to relax by the water. Sometime in all this, you can ask where the bus stop is, and find out if the schedule is posted ... if the schedule suits you, then, back to port by bus. If not, then just ask around for a taxi.

I just figured this all out by myself, because that's how I roll ... and you can do it too, if it suits.

Would it have been better to take the bus to Agia Maria then walk to the temple then walk back to Agia Maria to catch the bus back to Aegina Town?

Tommy, you are twisting yourself into knots trying to save a few Euro??? The reason you don't want to bus to Ag. Marina and then walk to the Temple is that it is STEEPLY uphill, and in mid-June it will be HOT. What's the problem? are you worried that the taxi from Ag. Marina back to the port will be too expensive??? What is too expensive? 10 Euros? I told you that you can probably get a bus if you will just inquire from a taverna when the bus goes, and where the bus stop is.
