My adult daughter & I will be in Athens for 2 (October) days & while we enjoy museums we’re interested in getting an overall feeling of the ancient city. Any experiences to share regarding private guides.

I was looking for the same thing, but nothing recent was available (8-11 years old!) However, having said that one of the guides I contacted happens to still be guiding people in Athens. She is also a guide that is used by Rick Steves tour groups when they are in Athens. I sent her an email, as well as 3 others listed in his Greece travel book. She got back to me right away. Faye Georgiou. We have hired her for an afternoon in October that we will be in Athens for a tour of the Acropolis and the museum. 4 hours for 60 euros per hour. I forgot to ask her if that included entrance tickets, but that doesn't matter to me. We'll get the tickets. Hope this helps.
