Suggestions for a good place to get breakfast in Athens.

I am looking out for a place to stay in Athens , and I wanted to get a hotel room without including breakfast on it . Can anybody let me know some of the places that you liked on your travels for getting breakfast? Bakeries or just nice places for a sit down breakfast . Any recommendations for a place that serves good Greek Breakfast ? Depending on that I was going to book my hotel room .

Thanks in advance.

Meat and cheese pie slices/pieces are sold in bakeries. Greek breakfast? Yougurt and honey? Rusk?

Ate yogurt with honey, maybe with some roasted almonds and fruit every day of our 15 day trip to Athens/Greek islands. That or baked goods and coffee is breakfast in Athens. Not really a sit down "American/English" breakfast culture. Get a hotel room with a refrigerator!!! You'll eat great, healthy and economically!!!

Looks like Ariston is a very good bakery . I was able to get an airbnb just walking distance from it .

Yes, Ariston does really nice pies, and a good range. We sometimes get them for lunch. For breakfast you can also get bread rings that are cheap and sold on corners in most of the major squares.

If we’re only in Athens for the odd night we generally just pick up a bread ring for breakfast. Having said that there are a couple of nice bakeries in Psyrri which are worth checking out.

To koulouri tou psirri actually bakes quite a lot of the bread rings that are sold in the street. They are in Karaiskaki about 5 minutes from Monastiraki metro. They have a web site but as far as I can see it’s only in Greek

The Little Kook, in the same street, is worth a look. No idea what the food is like but it’s the most extravagantly decorated place I’ve ever seen!

Further into Psyrri is the Bakery 1907 which has a little breakfast room. The bread from there is excellent and everything else looks very nice. It’s on the corner of Agias Anargirion and Sarri.

You can find both of these on Google maps. The area is worth a wander anyway.
