Stroller

hi everyone, this forum is one of the best. thanks for all the help on my previous questions..... we will be bringing a stroller with us. I have three kinds and wondering which one would be ideal. our plan is to walk as much as we can in Athens, Mykonos and Santorini. Now, how are the streets in Athens, should i bring a small umbrella stroller with small wheels, a medium umbrella stroller with better wheels to push or my super luxury stroller with ulterrean wheels. I would rather not bring the big one as it is heavy. the choice is between the small or medium umbrella stroller. (cheap $35 vs $300 medium umbrella stroller)

How much walking outside of cities to do you plan on doing? Greece can be quite hilly and rocky. A sturdier stroller might be your best bet. Also, keep in mind for any connecting flights, you will need to carry the stroller down airport stairs , on buses/shuttles to the plane, and onto the tarmack before boarding planes, so you want to make sure you can easily carry it around with you. We went with the "medium" version of what you describe--a Maclaren--and it was light, sturdy, and compact for all of our hikes, walks, etc.

we will do tons of walking in Athens, Mykonos and Santorini. We have roundtrip transatlantic flight and we are flying from Santorini to the U.K for second part of our European vacation. My plan was to use the small stroller in Europe and just toss it at the end, but it seems like the sturdier (Uppababy Lux) will be a better idea. I just want to make sure we can walk around Athens with a stroller and use taxis and public buses and metros with it. it's lightweight... thank you so much for your reply

of the 3 places in Greece, don't count on using the stroller much in Santorini .... if you stay in Oia, just for the main walkway, nothing else. If you stay in Firostephani you will be in luck, because -- parallel to the main road leading to Fira Town -- there is a flat flagstone walkway very stroller-friendly. In any of the towns, strollers almost useless as you get near the rimside path... all the paths leading toward the view are either steep-stepped UP or DOWN. You'llhave to carry the babe .... or if he/she is a weighty toddler, you'll have to hope he/she can & will do the climb.

Mykonos town is stroller-able if you forego the hill portions ... in Athens if you stay on the SOUTH side of the acropolis, a marvelous pedestrian promenade runs for a mile+ along side..,.. it's where Greek families take their "volta" before dinner ... tricycles, balloon-sellers, Ice-cream man etc.
