Hello, Heading to Greece in May. I just read that May 1st is "strike day" What does this actually mean. We will actually have a rental car at that time and will be in Central Greece
Thanks for your input
May Day is a day when many European countries have general strikes and demonstrations, particularly with unionized workers. As you are renting a car and are away from the cities like Athens and Thessaloniki you should not have problems. You may find some sites and monuments are closed and possibly some restaurants, services such as gas stations etc. Just be prepared as you would for a major holiday weekend at home - make sure you have a full tank of gas, food etc. and you should be fine. Check with the locals to see what impact it may have locally.
Thanks. We will be in the Meteora region that day.
