I'm looking for advice on how to spend a day travelling between Thessaloniki and Meteora (Kastraki) in mid October. We will be picking up our rental car from the Thessaloniki port at 9am and spending the following two nights in Meteora before moving on to Delphi. My tentative plan is to visit the Royal Tombs in Vergina in the morning and the village of Metsovo in the afternoon, followed by driving via the Katara Pass to Kastraki and arriving in the early evening. Does this sound reasonable? I realize that there are other sites in the vicinity of Vergina and that including both Metsovo and the Katara Pass adds a considerable amount of driving time, but wondered if 2-3 hours at each destination would be adequate? If so, I like the mix of history and scenery that this day would allow for, but am curious to read others' thoughts who have been to these places.
