I'd like to arrange a day trip for my family (four people including two adult children) from Athens to Corinth and Mycenea in early June. I don't actually think we need a guide, but certainly do need flexible transportation. Shall I try to arrange a private driver or have a tour company (like Truevoyager or CHAT) arrange something for me?
If you don't need a guide and want flexible transportation, why not rent a car for the day? For 4 people it's definitely worth it. Driving to Mycenae via the Corinth Canal is incredibly easy.
Thank you so much, JoLui; it does appear cheaper and easier than I would have guessed to rent a car.
So, next question: should we purchase tickets ahead of time to the Acropolis Museum and Archaeological Museum? Thank you!
Honestly, there's no definitive answer on how long you might wait if you choose to buy your tickets at the Acropolis Museum instead of online. Typically, you won't have to wait much at all, maybe just a few minutes.
The same goes for the Archaeological Museum, I’ve never seen a long line there either.
The only time you might encounter a wait is in a rare situation, like if a big group of 30 tourists arrives right before you without tickets.
But remember, as the Greek philosopher Horace wisely said, patience helps us cope with things we can't change. :-)
Ha! yes, I will keep Horace's advice in mind!
