One hour before takeoff should be enough. It is the smallest airport that I have ever been to.

Of course. Naxos is a popular tourist destination and people from all over the world visit there.

I flew Sky Express from Athens to Santorini last year. The experience was perfectly fine. Flight was on time and the plane seemed relatively new (I think they updated their fleet not too long ago with new planes). Nothing else really fancy about it. It's a short flight to/from most of the islands so it's not like you are going to be on the plane for a long time anyway.

Some things that caught my attention though that maybe you might want to keep in mind if this is your first time:

• I think Sky runs the smaller prop type planes on all of their routes (not bigger jet liners like Airbus, which I know Aegean uses on some of their routes), at least that is the type of plane I had on my trip. If you have bigger luggage you might want to check the dimensions.

• We also didn't board via a standard jetway like on a big airliner, we took a bus out to the run way and boarded via stairs. I mention this because it happened to be a very windy day that day and there was a woman in front of us who was wearing a light sundress and, well, as she ascended the stairs let's just say with the wind blowing, she gave everyone below an unintentional show. So, yeah, maybe keep that in mind if that might affect you.

Even if your carry on is in compliance with carry on requirements they may check it to Athens due to the extremely limited cabin space.

The Naxos airport is TINY. Not a very comfortable place to kill time so I would shoot for 45 min ahead of flight time. (Or their documented minimum)
