Hi, We're taking a Sky Express flight from Athens to Santorini GQ432 but we're slightly hesitant to book because there is an 8kg limit for the hand luggage. Our flight to Athens gives us 10kg of baggage. We were wondering how strict the 8kg limit on skyexpress is? We're unlikely to upgrade to check in the 15kg option!

Sky Express uses 70 seats ATR turbo-prop aircraft for domestic flights. Weight capacity is limited.
When you book with Sky Express there are two categories of checked baggage 15kg and 23Kg, take the option that best suits the weight of your baggage
Anyway, It is very likely that your hand luggage will go in the hold and you will have to pay for the extra weight.
Compare with the flight possibilities on Aegean/Olympic but since they are the same types of aircraft you will probably have the same limitations

You have to assume they will follow the rules. Even if ten people here say no one checked they might do that on your flight especially if the flight is crowded.
The competition also has an 8 kg limit.
It's a 45 minute flight to small airport. Would checking really be the end of the world?
By the way......Sky Express flies turboprops. Aegean flies Airbus. Not the same type of aircraft.

We are flying Sky Express twice in July, Aegean wasn't available on the days we needed. I am counting on the 8kg limit. We plan to check a small rolling back and carry on a small bag that meets that weight-we get checked for everything. It says we get a personal item also. I still can't find any information on if the 8kg limit is the personal item plus the carry on or just the carry on. Our personal items will be very small and if I was wearing a coat would be under my jacket, but July will be hot so no hiding anything.

I know on Aegean the 8 kg limit is just the carry on. Usually, when the weight is combined for both it will say that.

I believe the reason there are 2 unspecified items to carry on is because of the advent of the perrsonal computer-laptop- tablet. It wasn't/isn't safe to check it.. (personally I believe change was due to a lot of pressure from bus. travel) .. so there is carry-on (knapsack-shoulder bag-whatever) and Personal item - laptop or purse.
