I understand that there is large Turkish population on Rhoades. I was also informed that Rhoades has a large Bazaar similar to the one in Istanbul but not as large of course. I would like to buy a Turkish carpet while in Rhoades.
Any first hand feedback regarding this topic would be appreciated.
Unfortunately we don't have any suggestions for Rhodes since we don't cover it in any of our guidebooks. That's not to say its not worth going to, but you'll want to check out another guidebook like Moon Handbook or Lonely Planet.
Carol, I didn't notice a bazaar in Rhodes, but I'm not a shopper. I suggest you contact your Rhodes hotel & ask them. Depending on how much time you have, you might also consider a quick trip to Turkey. There are daily ferries from Rhodes to Marmaris, taking about an hour. I'm not sure if you could do this as a day trip and/or if a visa is needed to enter Turkey. You would have to check that out if this sounds like something you'd want to do.
