We just got back from Greece, and I wanted to share recommendations on local guides, as we had the best experience with each. In Athens, we had a great tour with Elissavet Tucovic ([email protected]), who took us walking through several neighborhoods, shared cultural and historical info, and hit great food stops. She was easy going, flexible, and so kind to email me later with recipes for some of our favorite foods we had that day, and her recs for restaurants were spot on. In Santorini, we had toured with Kostas Sakavaras (www.santorini-private-guide.com). Kostas was a wealth of information; we could not keep up with all that we were learning. He has a great personality, and you can tell he really loves what he does, with his excitement making the tour all the better. He was also great with sharing restaurant recommendations, even for places on our next stops of our Greece vacation. If you are looking for private guides for either place, I would encourage you to reach out.
Editing to include the tours were each between 5-6 hours, were at or just below 500 euro, and were for a family of 4. We decided to do private tours over small group tours, as it made sense for us based on what we would get for the price compared to what we would get for the price by purchasing 4 tickets in a group tour format.
