Searching for Naxos Tour Recommendations

We will be in Naxos for 5 days in April 2022, staying at Hotel Grotta in Naxos Town.

Our plan is to primarily use the excellent bus system and possibly rent a car for one day. We'll do this to be able to spend more time in different towns, sites and for some hiking.

I enjoy tours and am looking for a tour to learn more about the history, etc. I've done a search on the forum and haven't found anything.

All information is appreciated.

We spent a day with Nicolas, the owner of Naxos Discovery Tours. You would have a fabulous time with him.

Here’s his website: https://www.naxosdiscovery.net/

In addition, I have sent you a Private Message on this website with further information.

Reach out to your hotel for suggestions. Naxos is so small there won't be many choices (we did it on our own), but your hotel might connect you with someone great.

The KTEL bus system offers an around the island bus tour.
I have heard good things about it and on one of our driving trips we encountered the tour at a Kourous statue. The guide was giving his talk and I can say he really knew his stuff. As I recall the tour was very reasonably priced.
They may not be offering it that early in the season though.
For fun here are some images of our driving trip around Naxos.

I understand from Tripadviser expert for Antiparos, that one of the excursion boats that had done the Naxos to Delos/Mykonos has been docked in Antiparos for the past 2 years and has not been running. I believe the second excursion boat has also been docked because of Covid. Hopefully they will be running this season. If they are that is a good suggestion Lee.

Another vote for Nicolas and Naxos Discovery Tours! He is a fabulous guide and, the tour was some of the best money we spent on that trip. You will love Mama's breakfasts at Hotel Grotta. Nicoletta and Marine have mastered the art of hospitality, and you will leave Naxos with new friends!

Tour Websites to Compare with Discovery Tours ( https://www.naxosdiscovery.net/ ) for features & prices:
(one should note, when reading rave reviews here, that the Discovery tours are private guided tours, and accordingly priced. I have taken group tours, and found them very enjoyable, and not huge, 20-25 people at most. and a 9-5 tour costs about €30, very reasonable. Of course, in April, they may not run the group tours unless there are sufficient sign-ups ). A nice feature in Warm weather is a noon stop by a beach, where one can either have a bigger lunch, or just a snack & get a swim... your call

The KTEL (local bus system) Option - http://www.naxosbustransfer.com/
"TOp 10 Bus Tours on Naxos" - https://www.viator.com/Naxos/d50250-ttd
-- all tours seem to have a contact e-mail & it would be smart to write & ask about group bus-tour availability End of April.

Thanks everyone for the information. I will let you know how your suggestions work for us!
Yikes, we leave in one week. Excited, but a bit nervous.
