We are a 70+ yo couple who will be in Santorini in early September for just one night en route to Folegandros. First time there, most likely last.
I have us booked in Aeneon and Folia Bianca, both around the same price and both cancellable. I have also contacted Old Oia Houses but have not heard if they have availability. All the other recommendations I received are either already booked or out of our price range.
We will only have 24 hours in Santorini and most likely will be jet lagged, having just arrived from an overnight flight from California, so not looking to do anything adventurous, or much of anything at all - except look at the beauty.
Can anyone tell me which of the two hotels I have booked (or the third, if they turn out to be available) would be preferable?
Also, a nice restaurant for dinner recommendation In Oia or Imerovigli would be helpful. We like Greek food, nothing fancy or fusion, just good quality and fresh. A sunset view would be nice too.
Thanks in advance,
Rachel
Although Folia Bianca is not as upscale as Aenaon Villas it is in the better location unless you want to be isolated. There aren't any shops or restaurants near to Aenaon. Quality-wise, Old Oia Houses is part of a more traditional group of accommodations and nowhere near as luxurious. Also, if you stay in one of their units you'll have to fight through the throngs of visitors passing by all day and well into the evening until sunset. I think Folia Blanca is the best choice of these three. The views are the best from Imerovigli and there are some excellent restaurants close by. I recommend Le Moustache, Avocado, Anogi and Kapari.
Very helpful and thank you for being so specific, Lee. I will take your advice. As it turns out, we might be changing dates by a bit, so it's possible I'll be looking and inquiring again.
BTW, we are practically neighbors: I am in Santa Barbara.
Thanks again,
Rachel
