Santorini Oia vs Fira

Oia is much smaller and quieter. Crowds from cruise ships don't reach there. But you are farther from the harbor, airport, shops, etc.
It's about 8 to 10 km from Oia to Fira. There are scheduled buses.

Thanks! Are we better off staying in Oia the night before the flight? How long of a drive is it to the airport from Oia in the morning? I can check googlemaps, but it doesn't always know local traffic issues. ;-)

It probably takes 10 to 15 minutes longer from Oia than Fira. Traffic at that time will be negligible.

Just stay your extra night at Mariza and you'll easily be able to get to the airport in the morning. It takes about 30-35 minutes to reach the airport from Oia by taxi or shuttle service. When you make your arrangements for a pickup you won't have to schlepp your things all the way to the bus square. The parking lot for the Lioyerma Cafe/Pool is very close to Marizan and makes the perfect contact point. I don't know what arrangements you've made for your arrival there, but that parking lot is a short way down the road to Amoudi Bay from the post office, and there's a little sigh saying "Kyklos" at the entrance to the lot.

I'll add my vote for Oia which is quieter, less touristy and far less congested than Fira. As others have said, you can take the bus from Oia to Fira and back quite easily.

Thank you for the replies. Unfortunately Marizon is not available my last night. Rooms are available at Theodora, Esperas and Anemoessa Villa. But I can keep looking too.

Esperas is very close to Marizan and in my estimation is overall actually a better hotel.
