We’re taking the RS ❤️ of Athens tour in mid-September, and will be staying 3 nights on Santorini afterwards. 2 questions: 1. Is the ferry experience to the island worth the 5 hour travel time, as opposed to a 40 minute flight? 2. For the return flight, our plane leaves from Athens at 10:10; Will the earliest flight out from Santorini to Athens, arriving at Athens at 8:20 allow sufficient time to check in to home bound flight? We will only have carry on luggage. Thank you so much in advance!
Santorini should be lovely in September. With only 3 days, the flight would maximize your time on the island. To insure you make your flight home at 10:10 am, I’d fly back to Athens the day before (late afternoon or early evening). Why risk missing your long-haul flight if there are weather or. aircraft problems on Santorini. And, be sure you’re not taking the last flight of the day, just in case that flight is canceled (speaking from experience).
On the tour you will get the experience of taking boats to/from Hydra, I would fly..
Not enough Tums in Greece for me to consider taking a flight from an island to catch a 10AM flight.
Fly , I’ve done a long ferry ride , boring ! ( oh sure it’s exciting for like an hour - but after 4,5 6 hours , not so fun anymore . Plus flying can be cheap if you book now !
We're doing the same thing in April and plan to fly to Santorini and return late afternoon the day before our morning flight back home. Flights are fast and no heavy seas, sea sickness, etc.
