We will be visiting Greece in late October, early November. I know that it won't be as busy as summer, but is there a way to find out which days cruise ships visit? We will have 2 kids with us (ages 9 and 13) and would love suggestions on places to stay. I've read that a caldera view is a must.
Thanks!
For all practical purpose Santorini goes into winter mode around mid Oct. I doubt if any cruise ships will be visiting. A couple of years our cruise ship hit Santorini in first week of Oct as the last stop prior to ending in Athens. We planned on getting off in Satorini, staying a week before flying to Rome and home. Ran into all kinds of logistic problems - hotels closing the week, airline schedules ending with only one flight a day to Athens when the summer schedule had several flights including a direct flight to Rome. The logistics became such a headache that we stayed on till Athens. By late Oct/Nov it will be running on one cyclinder.
For places to stay with a caldera view focus your search on Fira, Firostefani, Imerovigli and Oia. Use the filter system at www.booking.com to find something you can afford with the amenities/facilites you require.
We stayed in Firostefani at the end of October beginning of November. Our apartment was heavily discounted at that time. Days were still pretty warm, nights little cool. We had view of a caldera. Almost every morning there were 4 to 6 cruise ship on anchor there.
