Santorini Guides

I looked into a guide(Eugenia) but the pricing for a 5 hour tour was $500 for 2. It seems a little pricey.
Any suggestions? I feel a 3 hour tour should hit the out of town sites and end in Oia. The buses are good to get us back to the Fonicular.

jfmartin, you do not say so directly, but I believe you're visiting Santorini on a cruise, which limits the hours you have, unfortunately. This probably means the "affordable" bus tour recommended may not suit the hours you will have onshore, alas. Lee is our acknowledged expert on local resources. BTW, the $500 estimate for 5 hours may have been for a "licensed guide" and may have allowed for 3-4 tourists at that price. These are the academically trained/tested & certificated guides who are allowed to escort you in museums and ancient sites .. others, who list themselves as "tour guides" can show u around, but not enter those sites with you. If that's not important to you, their rates may be more affordable, and they can adapt to your schedule. Be aware that if there are a number of cruise ships docking that day, you'd need to be in line plenty early for the cable car, in order to be shuttled back to your ship by its deadline.

I just booked with Kostas Santorini highlights tour with Akrotiri tour. I had been checking out some day tours in Santorini for June and this seemed to fit our budget and needs. Thanks for sharing.

I will add to my previous post that our guided bus tour included Akrotori, lunch and swimming at Perissa beach, stop at Red Beach, wine tasting at Santo Winery, and the picturesque village of Megalochori. Of course this was a day tour vs a 3 hr tour.
