Santorini from cruise port to Oia questions

Hi all:

We will be arriving in Santorini via a cruise in April of 2024 and would like to travel from Santorini to Oia. We know about the donkey (would not be an option) cable car, walking but I believe I read somewhere about a speedboat service that will take you to Fira and then you get a bus from there. In searching I can't seem to find much info on this route. Have any of you done this personally? If so did you buy tickets in advance and if so, how? Where was the boat in relation to the port? Is it walkable?

It's likely your ship will anchor near Fira and you'll be tendered to a small dock right below the cable car. On the dock there will be 2 or 3 companies offering boat service to Oia and you can walk up to the booths to buy tickets. Once you get to Oia it's a long uphill walk or a bus shuttle to the top. There is also a bus service in town to get you back to Fira.

My experience was in October 2017, not sure if anything has changed since then. I do remember giving up trying to find information on the Fira dock and the boat companies. It was chaotic and unorganized.
