Santorini bus tour of island recomendations

I will be in Santorini on sept 1st for 4 days and would love to hear a good recommendation on a nice bus tour in Fira to get an over view of the island. Sort of like in the RS video. Please let me know the local travel agency to go. Then I plan on going back to my favorite places by scooter. Can't wait!

Go to Pelican Travel in Fira or Kamari Tours in Kamari Beach.

Be aware that in the Rick Steves video (which I think is about 17 years old at this point), he had a half-day tour ... now, as far as I know, there are only full-day tours. And the middle of the day portion stops at in eastern beach (Kamari? Perissa?) where you are taken to a beachside taverna to have lunch (you pay) for 45 minutes or more, while the driver takes a nap-break. You also stop at a winery for a tasting & are urged to buy wine, and perhaps another place (crafts). When asking about the tour, question about the details. If you are OK with the tour otherwise, but want to have a swim instead of just sitting in a taverna, you could cleverly bring along a sandwich, and have your swimgear under your clothes, and thus do both. The same deal applies in Naxos for their around-island bus tour.

My friend and I will be in Santorini at the end of September. As it is not peak season, we were going to wait to book a tour with Pelican when we arrive. Does anyone know if these tours fill up in advance?

Some do, some don't. By the end of September it shoudn't be an issue, but if the tours offered by Pelican are full just go to another travel agency such as Dakoutros Travel, which is across from the visitor information center in Fira, between Pelican Travel and the taxi office. http://tinyurl.com/owvcymn
