Santorini Airport - Prebook a taxi?

I am seeing it would be around 45 euro to prebook a taxi from the Santorini airport to Oia - does that seem reasonable? Is it move expensive to prebook than if we just grabbed a taxi when we landed?

Does anyone have on thoughts on prebooking vs getting a taxi when you land? We will be coming off of traveling from the states through Athens to Santorini so we would prefer a taxi instead of doing a bus.

It will just be two of us and we will each just have a backpack. We land around 6pm on October the 3rd.

Prebooking is always more expensive and €45 is particularly expensive. If that's through your hotel they're probably just calling the regular taxi company and then adding in a "taste" for themselves. A regular taxi will cost €25-30. Go outside immediately upon arrival to hire one. If you're checking your backpacks one of you should go out right away while the other waits at the luggage carousel.

My hotel in Oia pre-booked a taxi for me for 30 euro. They said the driver will meet me at the airport with a sign of the hotel name and my name. They also said I should pay the driver directly, as in "it won't be added to the hotel bill".
Perhaps your hotel can arrange something similar?

Did you check with your hotel to see if they offer a shuttle? In 2015 we stayed in Fira and the hotel arrange a shuttle for 10 Euro.

The MOST experienced (he's been to Santorini almost annually since the 1980s) and MOST helpful Santorini expert on any of the greece forums. Lee also left the advice below on another forum: Luckily it seems that the shuttle bus goes directly to the place where you'll be staying. Check it out!

" A reserved taxi for up to 4 people from the airport to Oia or in reverse will cost you around €35 all in. Don't pay more. You can also spend a bit less if you reserve a seat with a transfer/shuttle service.

If you book a seat on the shuttle bus you will still have to make your way (in Oia) to Armeni Village, but it's easy to find. Ask for directions to the Andronis Hotel. As you face the sea Armeni Village is to the right and below Andronis, next to the Alta Mare Hotel."

NOTE: the above advice works best for a SOLO traveler... a shuttle charges per-person so for a 2-some, the taxi may be more economical, splitting the €35.

Thank you for all of your responses!
We are actually doing an AirBnB for this portion of the trip so that price was what I found while searching online.
I am just going to go outside and grab one as soon as we land. Our bags are small enough that we will just be able to carry them on. I feel much better about just being able to grab a taxi when we get there.

Thanks everyone! Really appreciate the help!

Thanks for that catch, Lee ... I'm bookmarking that new resource ... prices seem fair.

For my recent stay in Firostefani on Santorini, my small hotel provided a free pick-up at the airport, very lovely way to arrive. That hotel was Janet's recommendation (thanks Janet), and I believe the route from the airport to Oia is a lot longer, unless there is another road that way. If you decide to grab a cab at the airport, I endorse the suggestion that you rush from the plane to the taxi stand. My driver told me that on Santorini there are currently about 150 buses but only 36 taxis, which can explain the high fares!

Just got back from two weeks in Greece. First stop Athens airport to Santorini airport. Our hotel in Oia arranged transfer from airport to hotel and it was 30 euros for family of 4. It was a pretty long ride from airport to hotel.
