Santorini 3 day itinerary and logistics question

we will be in Santorini for 3 nights, First week in sept is the timeframe. Would love feedback on the plans as well as i Have questions on logistics - taxi vs bus etc.

we are staying at Sunny Villas in Imoerglovili

Day 1 - arrive Ferry at 10:00 from Crete - I have arranged a pick up at the ferry port and then we will go straight on a 4 or 5 hour tour for the 4 of us. SHould be seeing most highlights of the island. Suggested from the Private Guide - anything major missing? (The black sand beaches of Perivolos and Perissa with photo stop at Agia Irini church

Visit to the highest point of the island at 600m above sea level, Profitis Ilias Monolithos to see the cave houses of the island that are still inhabited Photo stop at the famously photographed blue domed church in Firostefani Climb to the highest reachable point of the Caldera for photo stop)

the night is free, most likely go to hotel, unpack, then decide to go to Oia for sunset,

Day 2 - private fishing / snorkel/ Hike trip with https://www.fishingtoursantorini.gr/

9am for 6 hours.

Question: the boat takes off from Ormos Ammoudiou - which looks like to be about 25 minutes.

Should we splurge for a taxi or take a bus and walk down. Need to figure out logistics And then when the trip is complete, which should be around 3;00pm - It is my understanding we can get a taxi back UP the hill. (we may be anxious to get home after being in the water all day, or we may want to walk around the Ammoudiou village - I am researching that now.

Early Dinner and watch sunset on our patio :-)

Day 3 - Right now free day - i think i want to get up early and see Oia, famouse blue domes photo spot etc without crowds! From Imvergovli - should we take a bus? or taxi. I would love the hike from fira to oia, but I think 5 miles is too much for this morning. Maybe we can take the bus/taxi part way.

:-) looking for ideas (ie partial fira to oia hike or Skaros Rock. Go to fira,or Firestoni or Oia.

Electroc Bike ride. basically triyng to decide hot to fill the day.

Dinner - 7:00 at Santo Winery. Same question suggestion on transportation - thinking Bus or Taxi?

Day 4 we leave fora 6:45 early ferry to naxos. We have prearranged transportation.

I have found the bus information - making sure I understand if I am looking at the time table for example Fira to Oia it has Departure 7:00am and return 7:30...is it one bus that goes back and forth Fira to Oia so it leaves at 7;00 and returns to Fira at 7:30?

I'm not a big expert on buses in Santorini even though I've taken them a few times.

The only thing to take into account are the departure times of the buses in one direction or in the opposite direction in the right column of the timetable.
That said, having already taken the Fira-Oia-Fira bus in September I can tell you that given the crowds waiting for the bus you will not worry anymore about these pretty timetables but rather trying to get a seat on the next available bus. :))

Hmmm good point.

I am seriously considering renting a car. The cost of taxi from our place in Imerovigli is almost 60 Euros one way.

if we take the car to the bay will there be a place to park?

If you rent a car you will have many more possibilities of travel without being dependent on bus lines and timetables or taxi prices (60€!!! I don't believe it)

Before contacting rental companies, check with your hotel if they can find you a rental car.
Parking can be very occasionally a problem but I don't think it will be a major problem.
Same thing about parking close to your hotel: ask your hotel.

Thanks - actually the hotel would not assist. is a matter of fact they told me it was dangerous and though we shouldn't rent one. :-(

But leaning towards it.

so expensive for taxi to Ammoudiou Bay. one person told me har dto park there and will get ticketed. The people we are goign on with the boat said not a big deal to park. we should be there by 8:30am.
Are you familiar with parking there.

If you are not used to small non-automatic cars and small roads or also the streets of Fira where everyone does what they want (for example young tourists with quads which are dangerous and which cause a lot of accidents) it can be surprising, but dangerous I don't think so, at least from my point of view.

The guy at the hotel has another point of view, maybe he's paranoid or maybe I'm not paranoid enough...
I drove in Santorini and I don't see any particular difficulty.

Sorry but I can not answer you about parking at Ammoudi Bay. It's in the Oia area, so with a lot of people.
Maybe other forum members could advise you about driving in Santorini from an american point of view, and about parking.

I actually hate what the tourist spots in Santorini are now and I only go there for logistical reasons and to confirm that it is no more a place for me. Lol. Especially since for the first 10 days of July 2022, the Minister of Tourism has just announced a 62% increase in the number of tourists this year in Santorini compared to July 2019 (pre covid)
