Samos Island from Kusadasi, Turkey

We will be finishing Rick Steves Turkey tour on May 6. We would then like to go to Samos Island, Greece for a few days. Does anyone have any info re ferry schedule from Kusadasi to Samos Island? When do the ferries run in early May and what port do they use on Samos Island?

Also, does anyone have info on where/ how to rent a car on Samos Island? How is driving on the island?

Any other info on where to stay on Samos Island given that we will be arriving from Kusadasi and flying out of Samos Island wold be most appreciated.

The ferry - Meandertravel.com - starts 1 April 2023 according to their website. It goes to Vlathy/Samos town. Clear customs there and get taxi to Pyhagoria town on the other side of the island. Pre-book accommodations in Pythagoria for 2 -3 nights. Good restaurants with some interesting sights. Small friendly walkable town. Relaxed atmosphere to unwind from RS tour - we loved it. Have host arrange taxi for morning run to nearby airport. Fly to Athens (best option IMHO). There are other flights and ferries but not as convenient. Maybe can still rent a car in Vlathy/Samos if you didn't spend enough time on a bus in Turkey.

Driving on the island is easy, and there are some pretty little mountain towns to explore, plus beautiful beaches. We rented from Vathy but I’m sure you could do so from Pythagorio as well. We just rented for one day — picked it up in morning, brought it back late afternoon. Ask your hotel for suggestions.

There are beach excursion boats that leave from Pythagorio on day trips. But this charming seaside town is also just a great place to relax.

To this day my husband regrets not buying a Pythagorean Theorem t-shirt there!
