Samos in May 2026 after RS Best of Turkey Tour

Hello:
My husband and I plan to ferry to Samos after the tour and stay 3 nights in a small apartment, already booked. We are not renting a car. We are in our late 60s, late 70s, love to walk, are not interested in Night Life, like trying authentic eateries and seeing local sights.

I'd like to hear from anyone who has been to Samos within the last 12 - 18 months.

I don't have specific questions, but if you have recently been there and have any must see sights, great local eateries or info about taxis and/or busses I'd love to hear from you.

I haven't been to Samos, but will just note that some of my tourmates took the ferry to Samos after our RS tour and didn't get to the ferry terminal enough ahead of time and missed their ferry. They had to wait a couple hours for the next one. I'm not sure what the issue was (possibly slow passport checks?). This was a couple years ago but a quick search said that you should arrive at least an hour before departure time and there are a couple of forum posts that say 75 minutes ahead.

Thank you for that helpful information. With the new EES system in place it may take even longer.

I’ve not been to Samos recently however I’m returning in June and have bookmarked this taverna following recommendations - Sama Authentic in Koumeika. I’ll be taking a taxi from Balos where I’m staying for a few days before moving on to Ormos.
