Sailing from island to island in Greece

We are going to be in Greece in June, 2016. We plan to visit about 3 of the islands but haven't decided which ones yet. We have been to Greece before and the only way we know to island hop is to go by ferry from Piraeus to Mykonos and then to Santorini. Has anyone got any recommendations on companies that can sail us from Hydra, Naxos, Patmos, etc?

Please clarify. Are you just after an alternative inexpensive method for island hopping or are you searching for a charter company for an extended sailing adventure in the Aegean Sea?

Thanks for replying. We don't want to sleep on the boat, just get from one island to another without going back to Piraeus. I know we can fly from Santorini, but we would like to fly.

I know we can fly from Santorini, but we would like to fly.

I'm still not 100% sure I understand the above statement, but Greece's ferry system is quite extensive and efficient. That said, if you choose islands that are not in the same island group then you will spend a lot of time traveling by boat regardless if it's a ferry or a private charter. For example, if your 3 choices are Hydra, Naxos and Patmos you have no chance of making any connections between these 3 without first returning to Athens for a flight or another ferry, or spend valuable time moving by ferry from one group to another where a connection could possibly be made. I suggest you find a copy of T. Cook's "Greek Island Hopping" to research the various island groups so you can choose one that offers you the sort of island experience you seek. This map will help you figure out a route. It's the best one I can find: http://www.sailingissues.com/yachting-guide/map-ferries.gif Be advised that there is a Blue Star ferry 3 days/week between Santorini, Rhodes and Kos. For some reason it was left off this map.

Thank you. Yes, I will track down the book you've mentioned. We are hoping to find private charters but I would like to have recommendations. We've done the ferries but we were hoping to have a different experience between at least two of the islands. We also use seat61.com.

You mentioned that you haven't decided yet for sure which islands to visit. It's in anther direction from Athens than the islands you mentioned, but Corfu is beautiful!
