I am researching where to eat in Athens. I am looking for a restaurant with a view that would accommodate 2 families with teens and young adults. Looking for a great food and place where we can celebrate our trip.
The Hotel Grand Bretagne on Syntagma Square has a rooftop restaurant, Roof Garden, with sweeping views including of the Acropolis. Can't beat it.
We also ate at the Electra Palace's roof top restaurant. Great view but lousy food and service.
There is the Cafe & Restaurant at the Acropolis Museum. Indoor and outdoor rooftop seating. Great food. Amazing view.
Lots of hotels around the Acropolis have rooftop restaurants. Teens and young adults can work off energy by going up the stairs! ;-)
Ride the cable car to the Orizontes Restaurant at the top of Lycabettus Hill for dinner at sunset. http://www.orizonteslycabettus.gr/the-restaurant/?lang=en
Coincidentally, I just went to the Hotel Bretagne website at the rec of someone I ran into this morning, and sadly, the dress is "Elegant Smart Causal, no shorts, sandals, or flip flops". Crazily, I think the shoe requirement will prevent us from eating there (all Im bringing are sandals, flip flops' and old trail runners for hiking)...
I did plan on bringing one pair of open toe wedges hopefully that counts as a shoe. I am trying to check out the restaurants but many of the menus online are not available in English. I do have to say the recommendations from here look wonderful.
