We start our Fall 2026 trip to Greece in Rhodes, with 4 nights there before moving on to Crete. I'm looking for recommendations for a nice place to stay.
We're seeking a comfy place in a good location, most likely in the old town (close to, or at least within a short/easy walk of restaurants, historic sights and other attractions, but not quite so "central" that it's packed with daytime crowds or loud revelers at all hours of the night). Extra points for some character. Budgetary limits are secondary, so if the place has charm and a great location, we can splurge a bit.
I know Rhodes gets lots of day trippers, cruise-ship passengers, and is popular with package-tourists. That's fine, it comes with the territory. That said, I'm hoping that where we stay can be a little island of peaceful calm amidst the raging tourism around us (and that we are contributing to). We will have a car for a day or two; parking would be a nice bonus but isn't a hard requirement (I know, cars always come with some downsides when you're visiting such old, and currently very popular places). We'll be there in mid-September so decent aircon is a requirement (though a shady terrace or other relatively cool outdoor space would be welcome, too).
Got any places to recommend that you really liked there? All suggestions welcomed. Thanks!
