For Hydra I can't say that it's authentic Greek but Il Casta was one of the best Italian restaurants that we have ever eaten in (2018) and we travel regularly (pre Covid) to Italy. Lovely outside, large servings, delicious food and a great host. Nice break from Greek food after a while.

I would recommend Aktaion restaurant in Santorini, and would make a reservation in advance. You might also consider a wine tasting and light lunch at Venetsanos Winery. Enjoy!

Hydra: Xeri Elia Douskos. Eat in a town square under shade trees. Choose from the ice chest of fish caught that day. Music from local guitar / bouzouki players. And for us, appetizers, meals, wine, dessert and digestifs for two people ... EUR 35. Was the most unbelievable meal I've ever had in my life.

Santorini: we really enjoyed Candouni in Oia, and it became our go to for most of our time there. It was right across from our beautiful resort (Hotel Aethrio). Dine in a grapevine covered courtyard. Great food. Family serviced.

Just boarded the plane on my way home from Greece! In Hydra, we ate at Giasemi (it means Jasmine), a brand new Greek taverna that has a warm atmosphere and delicious food. Onion Souvlaki was great for a quick bite The restaurant right across from it was also very good. I don’t remember the name but straight across the little path from Onion.

In Santorini, Roka is recommended by locals. No caldera view but they have a back terrace with a view of the Aegean sea on the other side. Food was amazing. And I highly recommend Metaxi Mas. You need a car or it’s about a €40 taxi ride one way which makes renting a car worth it as that costs €50 a day to rent. The view of the caldera and the highest point of the island is gorgeous and the food is so good. Get the asparagus in bechamel sauce, yum! They give you a free cheesecake made with goat’s milk after and it is darn good!

Enjoy your trip! Plane is taking off so gotta go lol.
