Wanting to take our rental car (approved to be on ferry by rental company) on a ferry (one way) from Zakynthos to Kefalonia on May 13, 2026 in the morning. We tried to book tickets on the direct route but were told that ferry won't start running until later in May. Any thoughts or suggestions on any other routes or options would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
You can take the Levante ferry "Mare di Levante" to Kyllini (on the mainland) and then the "Fior di Levante "from Kyllini to Kefalonia.
Here are the options for May 13 on Ferryhopper:
https://www.ferryhopper.com/en/booking/results?itinerary=ZTH00,KIL,KE00&dates=20260513,20260513
Or you can book directly throught the ferry company Levante Ferries. https://www.levanteferries.com/en
Use RENT123 as the numberplate.
Just to clarify, I provided a link to Ferryhopper so the OP could see the connecting options for that day. As always, it's best to book directly with the ferry company.
I don't know how it works in Kyllini, but it goes without saying that having a car takes significantly longer to disembark/board than a passenger. This should be factored into your connection times..
I posted the direct to the company website because I have no idea if the OP knew the company and what to do when asked for the numberplate.
And a small tip for the Ferryhopper users: If a search gives no result for a direct ferry, there is always the tab "check for alternative routes with connections".
Thanks for the replies. There seems to be 30 minutes from the time the ferry arrives in Kyllini until it departs to Kefalonia. Is that enough time to get the car off the first ferry and onto the second one or is it the same ferry that just heads on to Kefalonia?
It's a different ferry but they are next to each other in Kylini. You can drive off the 1st ferry, go 100m to the exit and then turn 180° to go back on the quay to the 2nd ferry. It will take less than 5 minutes.
THANKS! That makes planning much easier!
