We will be visiting Paros in early October for 5 nights. Since it is later in the season, would it be advisable to rent a car for a couple of days. We want to go over to Antiparos for a day and it might allow us to explore more of that island.
Regarding Antiparos you will need to go to the port of Punda where the ferry leaves for Antiparos. Timetable here:

It's a short trip of less than 15 minutes. Tickets cannot be booked, they are sold upon boarding. Bring cash, not sure if credit cards are accepted
You can take the car on the ferry without special permission from the rental company but it will not be essential in Antiparos. You can just leave it in Paros at Punda before taking the ferry. It all depends on what you want to do.
If you want to see the stalactite cave (spilia stalaktiton) it's possible by bus from Antiparos town.
Antiparos port is right next to Antiparos town. The village itself, the surrounding beaches and short hikes can occupy you for the day without the need for a car.
Renting a car in Paros mainly allows you to discover Paros without depending on bus schedules and routes.
Having been to Paros several times, each time I rented a car (or a scooter a long time ago) from different local rental companies.
Everything went very well each time, so I don't have one rental company to recommend more than another.
The last time was 2 years ago with Acropolis Rent a Car.
The office is right in front of the port of Parikia.

In October prices start at 25€ / day for a small car
The road network is in good condition and there are no particular difficulties.
The road signs are in Greek and English. With a little practice you won't even need a GPS after 3 days of driving in Paros.
Thanks for your quick reply.
