Planning 3 weeks in Greece with the majority of time in Crete. Prefer to not check bags (planning on local laundries). - even with a Chania connecting flight 2 - 2/2 hours later. Aware of Olympic/Aegean Sky Express weight restrictions, so welcome suggestions for "spinners" that will fit in the overhead bins (while backpacks worked on our honeymoon 53 years ago, we're late 70's, so don't think they'd work so well his time). Thank you in advance!
Whatever the color, brand or material of the cabin baggage, it must not exceed:
Sky Express and Olympic: 55cm x 40cm x 23cm
Aegean: 56cm X45cm X25cm on Airbus A320/A321 and 55cm x 40cm x 23cm on ATR72 turboprop.
There are cabin baggage sizers in the check-in halls
Personally think that a two wheel bag with larger, inbedded wheels is a better option than a spinner with four wheels attached to the bottom. The four wheels take away critical inches.
56 cm= 22"
55cm= 21.7"
40cm= 15.7"
26cm= 9.8"
23cm= 9"
Agree with Frank about the better use of space with the 2 wheel bag
This topic has been covered extensively of late, for example:
Use the search function on the travel forum - enter something like " carry on luggage" and limit the responses to the last six months - you should have numerous posts to choose from.
IF your concern is about charges, it is not relevant. The "Comfort Plus" rate level at Aegean, and the the "Sky Joy" ticket level at Sky Express both allow your MAjor Bag at up to 23 Kg, Plus one small carry-on at 15Kg and one "personal item" (small handbag or laptop). You Do not pay less by lugging your large "carryon" 20" suitcase into the passenger cabin ... and on a number of plane types on both these lines, your 20" bag cannot be accommodated, either overhead or under the seat in front of you... So forget about the wheels controversy.... it doesn't matter! If it's a smaller plane, the bag will be checked whether you want to or not... and it will not cost you more.
If your concern is about experiencing delay once you reach your island airport, forget about that too. These are not O"Hare Airport, or Atlanta, or Philly or Miami. These are quite small airports ... and unless you have the bad luck to arrive at Santorini airport with a package-tour from UK or GErmany, there won't be a big scramble at the airport. You'll get out of there in a few minutes... and be able to hurry on your way to your hotel.... in order to lie down on your balcony or by the pool. John, cool your jets.

This. And two wheelers perform far better on cobblestones and broken pavement
