Hello. My husband and I will be visiting Greece in late October. Can anyone make recommendations for hotels in Nafplio and Santorini? Also, any favorite non-touristy restaurants?

For Santorini, what is your maximum nightly room budget, which village have you chosen and what sort of facilities/amenities do you require? Without having this information there are just too many options to suggest. Help us help you.

Santorini- We did not care for Esperas- Cave rooms. There is a reason cave men left the caves. Dark, dank. very steep.

Nafplio- Pension Marianna. hotelmarianna.gr
Great location, stunning views, excellent breakfast, unique cave rooms.
Santorini- Aktaion in Firostephani. The oldest Taverna in Santorini, charming atmosphere, view, favorite meal there. We ate there twice & needed reservations.
Stani in Fira. Had lunch & dinner there. Reserve a view table for Caldera sunset. Forty One (Perissa Beach) enjoyed lunch, sun beds & beach.

In Santorini, we never found anything better than Hotel Aethrio in Oia. Lovely rooms with huge balconies, with sunset views (to the west where the sunset is, not over the caldera where the money is but the sunset isn't). Pool. Breakfast. Great hosts. In a gated area that creates its own oasis. Across the lane from a great restaurant, Candouni.

Nafplio: if you can book a room with sea view, Hotel Agammemnon right on the seafront is my top choice now. VERY few hotels or pensions have balconies looking directly on sea, not blockec by cafes etc. Also, a lovely breakfast buffet, very reasonable rates considering that TOP location.

We have stayed at Agamemnon several times. It is as Jan describes it. It is right on the waterfront and its fun to people watch in the early evening.

Yes, you were our go to for our 2017 Islands visit (Santorini & Naxos!). We are forever grateful. A shoutout to Stanbr as well. The best advice from both of you! I continue to bookmark for future reference. ;)
