I'm looking for a good value for the night in Santorini if possible. Ideally under $100 (pension or Airbnb?) or possibly up to $150 since I know Santorini is a more costly island.
We're heading out for a month long tour of Greece - two mid-thirties parents and a 4-year-old who's a fairly patient traveler. We're spending 5-7 days each in quieter parts of Greece like Hania and Nafplio but want to pass through Santorini for one night to see the cliffs and caldera briefly on our way out of Heraklion on our way to Naxos and the Cyclades.
We're doing our best to avoid the most touristy spots on our trip, but I understand that's impossible in Santorini. That said, I'm finding deals online in Perissa or Mesaria and it looks like these are within 30 minutes of the port, but also look kind of sparse and far from the beautiful sites around the caldera.
Do I need to just suck it up and pay through the nose for Oia or something similar, or does anyone have any tips from their travels through Santorini? Our only agenda for the trip would be walks to take in the geologic sites and a decent, clean place to crash before moving on.
