I will do a trip report later but wanted to drop a quick note that today we needed our QR code that came in the “enter Greece” email in order to eat inside at the Acropolis Museum cafe (which we wanted to do in order to cool off - it has great air conditioning). I have been in Greece for 8 days (but only got to Athens last night) and other than hotel breakfast this was our first time to eat inside, so hadn’t needed the code since arriving. Our server needed to scan the code and could have used either from the email or a screenshot. Otherwise you eat outside on the nice terrace.
Good to know! Thanks!
I hope you’re enjoying your trip!
And it's an excellent restaurant!
Andrea, it has been great! We head home Friday. :) Hope you are well!
Lee, it really was good. :) We went to the Acropolis early, then straight over to the museum and had breakfast.
And in almost 2 weeks, other than hotel breakfast that was the only time we have eaten inside. Everywhere has been so well set up for outside dining.
Travel Mom, thats the large open area on the first floor? They didnt ask me for anything. Getting into the Acropolis they looked at my CDC card. The only time that was ever checked. Even the airport didnt scan the VR code. They just glanced at my phone from a distance of 3 feet.
Amazingly in 6 countries now I have shown my CDC card for each flight, a couple of times on landing and at land border crossings, and to enter maybe two places of interest. That's been it. Its been surprising.
Yes, the cafe is European first floor - no one needed their QR code to sit outside, only inside.
And yes, no idea how everything is working. All we did at the Acropolis was buy a ticket - no showing of anything. In another group I am in (different country), someone said all the info is already online tied to your passport, so they already have your vaccination information upon entry. I don’t know……but it makes sense.
Coming home, we had uploaded all documents, but had to show our negative test result paperwork at check in. The attestation was done online via the United app, so didn’t even need that on paper.
