hey hey llagerlo1
in corfu we did a private taxi tour with: corfutaxiprivatetours.gr with dimitris. (speaks great english)
looked at some things to do and he recommended a half day tour (4-5 hours) with activities and attractions to see. we agreed and made it adament we need to be back at cruise ship before leaving. he was very good about answering emails, sending us what he planned and no worries about getting back to ship.
he met us cruise port with our name (there were 4 of us), directions where he would pick us up at. can't miss him, he's got a head of red hair LOL, told us price for the tour not per person and we split cost and paid cash with a tip. off we went, i can remember first stop was a shop/store that sold local products and kumquat liquer. did some tasting and bought a bottle to bring home. then trough small towns and villages with thin alleyways wondering if we'd make it with another car/bus going to other way. did some stops along the way to see the views and photo stops. was a great guide and driver, one of our better tours we enjoyed in greece. dropped a early near port and sat at car.taverna for a corfu beer and some greek appetizers and walked onto ship. good luck
haven't been to cephalonia/kefalonia/argostoli but found this site to check for tours. if you find something email them what they offer and the rate (per tour or per person) or recommendations kefaloniasightseeingtour.com
always look at days/times tours are and pickup is at port.
kefaloniataxi247.com
check the tours, send them an email what you want and adament about returning to ship.
tripsavvy.com/ kefalonia greece
read up about the island, it's history and what to see, get an idea. stop at a taverna/cafe/bar have a cocktail/beer and some greek appetizers, fresh fish/seafood.
cruisemapper.com
a website for checking cruises, ships, ports, info of the ships around. look at your port by date to see how many ships in port which lets you know how many travelers are there and how crowded it can be, sometimes a "zoo!"
just have fun and enjoy yourselves. we did a greek isle cruise from venice before big ships were forbidden and loved every minute of it, except i did not like santorini. it was so packed worse than a can of sardines, long lines for cable car to get down to jetty boat to tender to ship, restaurants and main walkways was bumper to bumper to even to enjoy it. we zigged instead of zagged and found a small family restaurant with 6 people overlooking caldera and it was fabulous. family so nice and bringing food they chose for us and was yummy with our bottle of wine to share.
