Port Transfers / Taxis in Greece

Going to Greece in 3 weeks and I'm at a loss of how to get around on two islands. Our hotels are not offering transfers, so I need help!

Mykonos:

  1. How do we get from the airport to our hotel at Paradise Beach?

  2. How do we get from our hotel to a dinner reservation one mile away? (I hear that taxis are rare, and one person in our party is on crutches!)

  3. How do we catch a morning ferry out of the port (with luggage and 7 people) when the bus schedule doesn't align with ours? (As in, we'd never make the ferry on time taking the first bus of the day!)

Santorini

  1. How do we travel from the port to our hotel in Firostefani?

Lastly, if I need to rent a car to do any of the above, do I need an IDP?

If anyone can provide insight to any of these questions, I would greatly appreciate it. Links to car services are also welcome.

Have you asked your hotels to arrange a taxi for you?
If you google each islands’ name and transportation is from ferry to X hotel, you will be given many different choices. Our hotels booked our transportation which we paid for.
We also get an IDP which is basically a translation of your driver’s license. Easy to get, around $20, at AAA offices and we use it all over Europe. I think it is good for two years.

An IDP is ten minutes of your time and $20. It is good for ONE year.

Some will say you don''t need it. Chances are you won't. But......the one time you need it and don't have it......it's time for a fine.

You can reach Firostefani by taxi, private transfer, shared shuttle transfer (Hoppa/Santorini) or by taking the port bus into Fira followed by the next bus to Firostefani.
