Stayed at Hotel Hera last September and loved it. Great location, south of the Acropolis. Lovely view of Acropolis from roof top restaurant. Easy walking to the main attractions. Favorite restaurant was Mani Mani, just a short walk from the hotel.

We liked the Hotel Philippos in Athens. Nice people, comfy room and pleasant breakfast area, great location (quiet setting, close to transportation and Acropolis). Safe travels.

Just to back up recommendation for Hotel Hera and Phillipos for location I have preferred ... just SOUTH of Acropolis, right near the attractive pedestrian promenade bordering that landmark -- so nice for strolls at sunset; that's the "volta" (walks) time for Greek families with baby carriages, tykes on bikes, balloon sellers ... you feel as if you're in a lovely postcard. Very convenient, walkable to almost everything, and away from traffic. Other hotels (a bit more $?) in same area; Hotel Herodion (sister hotel to Phillopos) and the Airotel Parthenon.
