Place to stay in Heraklion

We will be traveling from Chania to Heraklion by bus in mid September for a one night stay in order to catch the ferry to Santorini.
Any suggestions of a place for us to spend the night?
Thanks

It’s been a while but I’ve stayed a few times in the Marin Hotel. It’s comfortable and reasonably priced with good views from some of the rooms.

It’s fairly close to both the bus station and the port.

I've stayed and friends also have stayed at Hotel Kronos, right on the seafront. Same moderate rates as Marin, I think includes breakfast in lobby. If you can snag a front room w balcony, a great view of sea and looks down at port where ferry docks. U can walk along the seaside boulevard before dinner & out on the Causeway to circle the huuuge Fortezza ... right on the seawall is Ippopottamus, enjoyable place to eat. Others are on traffic circle at foot of Causeway... Crete claims to be the birthpllace of Mezedes, and some of these eateries serve ONLY meze... you'll stack up tiny plates in a feast.

Hotel Kronos is across the street from the waterfront and within about 200 meters to the central area of Heraklion. Prices are good. You can walk to the bus station and to the ferry dock from this hotel. We have stayed there several times.

I wonder whether janet’s referring to the Ippokampos (Greek for “Seahorse”) restaurant? There’s no better seafood restaurant in town.

We stayed at the Kastro Hotel, near the port and next to the El Greco park on a quiet street.

If you arrive in town in time to see the Archaeological Museum, with finds from the nearby ancient Minoan palace at Knossos, it’s amazing. But maybe you’re already planning on seeing the Knossos site, too (very worthwhile).

DOM Boutique Hotel was great. Modern; immaculately clean; easy walking to everything; excellent staff and breakfast.

I spent a night at a hotel called El Greco. It did the job fine. It is not high or low class. The neighborhood was good enough. Maybe you will have to take a taxi to the ferry if you stay here. I arrived at Heraklion on a ferry and then got into a waiting taxi and had the driver take me to the hotel.

I just booked our night at Infinity City Boutique Hotel. There's also an Ibis Styles hotel just a short distance away.
