Passenger Locator Form and European Telephone Service

I applied for the required PLF. I received this response. Just a heads up.

Thank you for completing the Passenger Locator Form before your trip to Greece. We appreciate your cooperation in this extraordinary circumstance. We are making every effort to accommodate your stay in Greece and keep you safe.

Beginning July 1, 2020, the Greek government has determined how the country will welcome travellers, carry out the necessary diagnostic screening, and keep everyone safe throughout the season.

Important: You will receive the PLF document with the QR code on the day of your scheduled arrival in Greece (at midnight). You will be notified again via email and this URL will be automatically updated. The PLF document is only valid with the QR code. If travel departure begins prior to the day of arrival, travelers are allowed to board after showing the confirmation email (and not necessarily the QR code which is scheduled to arrive during their trip).

Have a great trip, and I hope there’s a QR code waiting on your device when you land. Greece is using technology to maintain its awareness of visitors, who clearly need to have compatible technological devices, and sufficiently charged batteries. But what confirmation e-mail do you present to be able to board your flight to Greece? When’s it going to be received? Is it the one that acknowledges that you applied for the PLF?

I am carrying prints and files on my phone of everything. Like I said in Turkey, I think i a being overly cautious. The easy one is Ukraine. Just have to buy their COVID insurance for $6

Probably no such thing as overly cautious right now. Your diligence will pay off, with easier transit and fewer hassles.

We flew Newark to Athens 9 days ago. QR code arrived about 5 hours before flight. Airline agent took a quick look at it and our vaccine cards before issuing boarding passes. Greek official quickly checked both just before customs. Whole process fast and simple.

Last I heard, beginning July 1st, Americans will be able to sign up for the new EU Digital COVID Certificate. If that turns out to be true, I wonder if/how that will impact the PLF process?

James E, I have a question about the Locator form - do you need to account for every day you are in country? Granted things may change again by October, but if I go, I wanted some flexibility to decide on the ground. Thanks

No, it was pretty basic. Name, passport, arrival date and flight and a list of all the hotels you will stay at, but not the dates.

I printed the email; QR code is same you will get at midnight day of arrival. Paper was very efficient and got me through lines quickly!
