Paros help

Hello! Thanks for everyone’s input already on my upcoming trip. I am trying to hone my Paros Leg of it. For context, we are four 37 year olds. It’s out 10 year wedding anniversary

We arrive Sunday July 5 by ferry from Santorini (in Paros at 11:35 AM).
My first question- we are trying to decide if renting a car is worth it- we leave at 11:35 AM for Naxos (we stay there six nights and do have a car rental).

Second question is to help shape our itinerary (I think the car answer may lend itself to this plan).

We are staying in Naoussa. We cannot check in til 3 pm so do luggage drop off.

These are my unorganized things

Day 1 July 5 (sunday)
arrive approx 11:35 AM
20 minute taxi to Naousa

Made reservation to Drop off bags (11 AM)
Swell WhiteStay (have in apple wallet) booked on 6/14

  • head to Kolymbithres area beach (12 min from Airbnb)- this beach is a must do - if not today another day.

Check in - shower wander Naousa- dinner at restaurant

Possible winery- so close to Airbnb closed Sunday- cannot do today

Comeback bar- can go for just a drink

7PM dinner Luaz (no other time option)

Day 2: either antiparos or villages explorations that end near golden beach

Day 3: beach/beach club day. Was thinking monastiri- we have a beach club day planned for Naxos.

Day 4- ferry to Naxos at 11:30 AM

Any input would be so appreciated!

If there are 4 of you it might make sense to rent a car. That being said, it all depends on what you plan to do on Paros. Based on what you have planned, I don't think you're going to explore the island all that much, so it's really up to you.

Keep in mind that taxis in Paros can be expensive, a ride of about 6 miles from the port to Naoussa will cost you at least €30. Have you asked your host in Naoussa if the Airbnb comes with parking? Naoussa is the absolute worst place on Paros to find a parking spot easily. It’s gotten to the point where a lot of the parking lots now charge a fee.

I don't really see why Kolymbithres Beach is considered as a "must-do." There are some hidden little coves further north, past Monastiri Beach, along the trail that runs by Paros Park:

On the other side (west), it's all cliffs, but there are walking trails if you want to hike up to the lighthouse.

The biggest and most beautiful beach on Paros is Chrisi Akti, also known as Golden Beach:

Regardind the winery I assume you mean Moraitis in Naoussa. You could also try the Myrsini estate in Marpissa (it's run by a French couple, Nicolas and Marie, who settled there in 2020), but you'll definitely need a car for that:

Marpissa and the surrounding villages (Marmara, Prodromos) are charming, quiet and traditional villages that are well worth a visit, they have some great tavernas and restaurants that are way less of a tourist trap than the ones in Naoussa.

You could easily spend a day on Antiparos. If you have a car, you can just leave it at the Punda port and hop on the ferry that runs between Paros and Antiparos. Bring your swimsuits just in case, there are beaches within easy walking distance from the port on Antiparos.

If you don't get back too late from Antiparos and you have a car, go check out Lefkes, the island's old capital located inland.

Again if you have a car, plan to return it early enough before catching your ferry to Naxos. Once it's dropped off, you can just hang out at the port, have a drink or coffee, and wait for the ferry in peace. It’s going to be packed in July in Parikia.

Judging by some of the places you've chosen, I get the impression you spent a lot of time on Instagram and YouTube influencer videos to plan your trip to Paros. To each their own, but I hope you won't be disappointed with your choices.

I also do not see why Kolymbithres is a must do.

I know you only have a short stay but You are very timetabled.
Is this an AI itinerary. ? Take a breath and enjoy the slowly slowly ( siga siga) approach.

Thank you for the input, no this is not an AI itinerary, I’m a very type a person and I’ve been doing my research to the best that I can on my own.
The Airbnb comes with street parking, not private. So if that’s impactful then maybe we just suck up the high fees and use a taxi when we need to get around.

I’m happy to hear that that beach is not a must do- it seemed very nice in photos which is why I placed it as a must do. I just want to be sure that I have what I need to best see the island without any regrets of not having a car.

I’d recommend contacting A Lazy Day with Captain Ben — he does a great sailing trip around Antiparos, with stops for swimming and lunch. He picks up passengers at Punda in Paros as well as in Antiparos. He’s very popular so he may already be fully booked but is worth a try.

If you can’t or prefer not to do a boat trip, I think you’d enjoy a day on Antiparos anyway.

I’ve already given you some info, opinions, and advice since your first messages back in January about your trip to Greece when you were first considering Santorini, Naxos, and Folegandros, and then later when you were looking into Paros and its rental car or ATV options.

Everyone has their own way of traveling and spending their vacation days. Even though I know Paros well, I don’t want to dictate what activities you should do or what places you should see, especially since you’re not sure yet if you're renting a car. So, sorry, but I'm not really sure what to tell you. :-(

What I’m wondering is, what kind of guidebooks or other resources are you using to pick your activities in Paros?

Since you mentioned wineries, have you checked out the Friends of Paros & Antiparos website, for instance? They have an article on the island's wineries:

https://friendsofparos.com/the-vineyard-of-paros/

Have you looked at any of the local websites dedicated to Paros, like this one?

https://www.toparos.com/en/

If you end up not having a car, have you checked the Paros bus website for their routes and schedules? It could save you from relying on expensive and hard-to-find taxis.
