Packing for October weather

I’ll be traveling to Athens, Santorini and Mykonos in 2 weeks. Trying to minimize my packing and take clothing for all temperatures..what weather can I expect for that time of year both for day and evening? Will swimming be possible? We have a day cruise booked.

Go to a weather app like Accuweather and plug in all of your destinations. Accuweather forecasts up to 15 days in advance.

Was looking for more specifics like is it windy? Is the water swimmable..etc from those who have been there during that time. I am familiar with weather apps…

Swimming depends on what the weather has been like for the past few weeks…it might still be warm enough. On the whole I think light clothing - it will still be warm in the daytime with a jacket for the evening. My experience of Greece in October was when staying in Crete and it was 32c, about 95f in the daytime but cooled pleasantly in the evening. Sea was great for swimming when calm but some days the surf was too much.

I’m in Rafina at the moment and the daytime high is 85. It’s dropping by around 6 but I’ve been eating out in a t-shirt every evening. I’d say it’ll definitely be warm enough to swim: the overall temperature will drop in the next few weeks but the sea will still be warm. It shouldn’t be consistently windy but nobody can guarantee it: two weeks ago we had a couple of days of 40 mph winds and a month ago the boats stopped running for a day. The only sensible advice is layers.

I'd go to timeanddate.com for actual, historical, day-by-day weather stats going back about ten years. They should give you a better idea of the range of conditions you may experience than predictions more than a few days out. Be sure to check at least 3 - 5 years' worth of data.

It's been my experience that it can be quite windy in places along the water, including in Greece. After sundown, the wind can feel quite cool.
