I keep seeing online that people pack very lightly for Greece and buy some Greece appropriate clothing when they get there. Is that really feasible or is that just an influencer thing? Thanks
Ha it’s very true ! We just got back from spending May 28-June 28 in Greece . We visited Naxos , Ios, Syros and Crete and that inclined a lot of Ferries, so you are hauling luggage a lot
I only brought a carry on !
I didn’t wear 1/4 of what I brought - and many of my tshirts were too hot to wear - so in both naxos and Syros I found stores that sell the super light cotton and linen type clothes for good prices ! Both are NOT on the tourist strips - but back a few blocks into towns . Linen dress in popular area 50 -75 or more euros , same dress in these stores were 20-30 euros !
I basically wore :
One swimsuit ( washed daily and always dry by am )
One swimsuit cover up type sundress
2 pairs of shorts
2 sundresses
4-5 light tops I bought
One long gauzy skirt I wore in evenings
One pair good quality flip flops
One pair of keens
Thank you very much. Your very specific information is very helpful.
There's no real need to pack too many clothes since you'll find them in Greece if you need them.
And follow Pat's advice: avoid shops in tourist areas. Go where the Greeks go.
That said, my worst problem in Greece is that I buy too much clothes there. If I don't limit my purchases, my luggage can easily exceed the weight limit on the return flight. :)
