Overnight near ATH

I will start by saying Sofitel at the airport is not an option for us ($$$$)
I am searching for reasonable accommodations near ATH for an overnight. Family of 4 (all adults) arrive around 6pm from Munich with a flight departing at 10am the next morning to Santorini. Ideally, would like to stay somewhere we can explore a little on foot the evening of our arrival, but most of what I seem to be finding near the airport is fairly isolated from restaurants and such.

After our visit to Santorini we are staying two nights in the Plaka area before returning to the states, so staying somewhere a bit different would be great.

Check out the Avra ​​Hotel in Rafina, they offer a free shuttle hotel ↔ airport. The hotel is modern and priced well below the expensive Sofitel. You can get a room with a small balcony and a sea view.
The trip Rafina ↔ airport takes about 20 minutes.

The Avra is located 100 meters from Rafina Port, where there are several restaurants and taverns (alaso some others on Rafina's main square).

I agree — the Avra is a great choice. Rooms are comfortable, it’s a short walk down to the harbor where you have several tavernas to choose from, and they serve a great breakfast in the morning.

When you check in, verify your free shuttle reservation for the next morning.
