Overnight in Mykonos

We will be in Athens in March for 7 days. We are considering (or if it is possible/realistic) to stay overnight one day in Mykonos? I understand the boat ride is like 2.5 hours or something. Does anyone have any thought on this possible excursion? I figured Mykonos might be far to do as a 1-day trip (out and back). Do people routinely do Athens to Mykonos by boat? We have no set schedule and are usually flexible in our trips. We just like to take the trip and see where our journey takes us. Are there hotels in Mykonos? Recommendations?

We flew Athens to Mykonos and then continued on after a few days by ferry to other islands.

I personally would try for 2 nights at least. The ferry ride is not bad, you get to see a couple other islands, depending on which ferry you take, by going in and out of the ports.

Two nights would allow time to wander the old town, hit a beach club, and take the boats over to Delos for a few hours to see the ruins.

If your flight arrives early enough at Athens airport you can fly directly to Mykonos with Olympic or Sky Express or consider going to the port of Rafina which is 20 minutes from the airport by taxi and closer to Mykonos as the port of Piraeus, and from Rafina take a ferry to Mykonos.

If apart from Mykonos you do not plan to leave Athens during these 7 days, you can spend more than one night in Mykonos.
That said, in Mykonos in March you will surely be able to find a few lounge bars and nightclubs open but it will be difficult to swim without catching pneumonia :))

Thank you everyone for your input. Not sure about Delphi. We had planned to stay in Athens the majority of the time and take the boat/ferry to Mykonos (not fly). We aren't worried about getting there in a hurry or anything. We will fly home from Athens. I would be open to 2 days in Mykonos.

Before you leave for Greece, check the ferry schedules on:

https://www.ferryhopper.com/

Specify "Athens (all ports)" as the departure port. So you will see the departures from Rafina or Piraeus.
You don't need to book in advance, especially in March. Be at the port 1 hour before departure and buy the ferry tickets at the port.

If on the day of your arrival you are not going to Rafina from the airport to take a ferry and are going to Athens, it will be easier then to take a ferry from Piraeus the next day or another day (the Athens-Piraeus route is much faster and easier to do by bus or metro)

I don't know if you have a particular reason to go to Mykonos, know that leaving Rafina the ferry goes through Tinos which is a beautiful island, much less touristy and quieter with still enough accommodation possibilities even in March
