Ornos or Elia

Family of 4, 2 parents, 2 teens want a bit of a beach experience. Will not be having a car so would like a place that maybe can walk from a small town with restaurants, shopping, etc.

Which of these 2 might be the best for that scenario.

Or is there another place on Mykonos that you would suggest?

Thanks!

My mom and I enjoyed visiting Ornos Beach (twice) when we stayed in Mykonos many years ago.
There was a restaurant right on the beach where we had 2 delicious meals.
The restaurant staff let us use their beach chairs free of charge because we were there off- season in October.

We were told that it’s a very popular beach and it gets very crowded during the summer months.
We hadn’t planned to visit a beach during our trip but then decided to go as it was recommended by our hotel staff.

When is your trip?
Wishing you a wonderful time in Greece!

The end of May. So thinking it might not be too busy at that time of year, but warm enough for some beach time.

Did you stay in a hotel there or just do a side trip. Looking at someplace to stay for 2 days, then hang out at the beach and in the town, if there is one there.

Are you committed to Mykonos? It’s going to be crowded and very expensive. Check out some You Tube videos or Google the various beaches, if you haven’t already. There are dozens of other Greek islands that experienced travelers on this forum could help you explore if you’d like.

Already going to Santorini and thought about the crowds that is why the less busy areas are being looked at. However, another suggestion for a few days might be helpful. Also thought about Nafplio.

Naxos is a favorite of many people on this forum. It’s an easy ferry ride from Santorini and has lots of hotels and beach options. The main town is very walkable, with many restaurants and shops.
Lots of places to explore on the island. No cruise ships allowed, so no crushing crowds.

Amorgos is another good option, also easily reached by ferry from Santorini. Even less crowded than Naxos. There are two ports — Katapola and Aegaeli — I loved Katapola but Aegaeli has a better beach. Make sure the ferry you choose stops in whichever port you’ve selected. Amorgos has the amazing Hozoviotissa Monastery carved into a cliff.

You might want to start a new post for recommendations if either of these sound interesting.

That's why the less busy areas are being looked at.

Make sure you're going to the right place when you're thinking about Mykonos.

Mykonos ranks as the second most crowded island among the Cyclades, with a large number of cruise ship tourists who stop by for a few hours, and many party enthusiasts (mostly wealthy) who travel from all corners of Europe for non-stop fun. It's also notorious for its sky-high prices.
If you're looking to go to the beaches, Mykonos is famous for its beach vibe, like this one.

If you're looking for whitewashed houses, blue domes, and beautiful beaches, you'll find them everywhere on all the Cycladic islands, among others on those mentionned by Charlene

Thanks for the info....
This trip is for my daughter's family, and since I am the RS member asking these questions for her.

She does have rooms booked in Ornos but is open to changing to someplace else based on the recommendations here.

Looked at Nafplio (where I have been and loved it) but no rooms available in the price range she wants to stay in.

They need to make their way back to Athens for the flight back to US.

She looked at Nafplio but there were no rooms available in the price
range she wanted to stay in.

Does this mean she wants a room at least as expensive as the one in Mykonos and can't find one in Nafplio?
