We will be based in Athens from May 17-24. We would like to visit the town of Nafplio and the two nearby ancient sites. I would like to find a small tour to take us on a full day visit. We need enough time to eat in and walk around the town. Private tours are quite expensive, and regular tours may have too many people. Any suggestions as to who to use? Thank lyou.
I don’t really see a big issue with the regular tour. The main time you will all be together is on the bus. You can go with the guides at the ancient sites or wander a bit on your own. In Nafplio, the group will disperse and do its own thing. Your biggest challenge will be if there are cruise ships in port adding to the numbers. Even so, it is a tender port which reduces the number of people arriving onshore at any given moment.
If renting a car isn't possible, you could take the KTL bus to Nafplio. I assume the nearby ancient sites are Mycenae and Epidaurus, so you could take an organized tour from Nafplio, like this one for €170 in May. It's a private tour for up to 3 people, guide not included. (just an exemple)
