One day in Athens from a cruise

I know that Athens deserves more time, but we will be in Athens in early December on a cruise ship and want to have your recommendations on the most important features for two seniors who are in reasonably good health.
Thanks in advance.

If you can get to the Acropolis at opening around 8 am. Buy the multi site pass. Once the crowds start to arrive around 9:30 the Acropolis will be come crowded so leave and start to look for the other sites in the ticket package. This will give you the best coverage of the ancient sites. Most of them are in the Plaka area of central Athens and all are within walking distance. If you have time visit the Acropolis museum it will put everything into perspective for you.
You simply won't have sufficient time to see all the4 sites so be sure to take rest stops and enjoy a refreshment at a taverna.
These images were taken over several trips.

The Acropolis, Acropolis Museum, and Ancient Agora. All close together. Lots of restaurants and shopping in the Plaka between the museum and Agora around the north and east sides of the Acropolis. That will be a pretty full day.
