Northern Greece vs Peloponnese road trip in November

Hi all,

Looking for some advice on traveling in Greece in early November. We have been to Athens, Crete and Meteora previously. On this trip, have about 2.5 weeks and are debating between a road trip in the north – Teassaloniki, Epirus, Pelion and maybe Kavala area vs. a Peloponnese road trip (Nafplio, Monemvasia, Mani, Kalamata). We originally were planning to go in October and had decided to go North, but our timing needs to be adjusted to November, so now we are wondering if the north might be a little dreary at that time of year.

I know it is impossible to predict the weather, but would one of these be preferable based on averages? Seems fall foliage might be near its peak in Epirus and Pelion in early November, so that’s a plus. I know rain, clouds and chilliness is possible everywhere – although I was surprised to see that much of the Peloponnese averages as much rain as the north in November (with more rain in Epirus and the west and typically drier by Thessaloniki and East Macedonia).

I know either would make for an awesome trip – just looking for any advice from those who are more familiar with the details.
Thanks!

Thanks. We'll give it some further thought and decide whether to go north or south. I don't think we can go wrong either way.

I know Pelion was terribly impacted by the floods last year. Hopefully conditions have improved and tourism will help spur the economy.

Thanks.

I suspect the earlier post was spam. This would be a hard decision for me, because both areas are worthwhile and like you, I would want to take a good look at weather.

Ah yes - I see that post has been removed.

The planning and evaluation of both options continues. We were leaning more towards Peloponnese, but on further thought we might switch back to the northern option. Although statistically there is higher probability of less ideal weather in the north, in reality the odds are a toss-up. The promise of near peak fall foliage in the north is a very strong draw.

Thanks!
